BIT achieves 10 Distinguished Club Program points!

How your speeches earn club points
Toastmasters International uses the Distinguished Club Program (DCP) to recognize club achievements in education, membership growth, club leadership and club communication. When you complete a level in Pathways, it’s not only an amazing personal achievement. It also helps the club to earn DCP points. Our club earned 10 DCP points this year—for the first time in its history—which means our club status becomes a “Smedley Distinguished Club”. This status shows Toastmasters members around the world that our club is active and supportive, and it attracts new members and guests to join us.

Future meeting location
Update on BIT venue testing
As of May 2026, our club is no longer meeting at Design Offices but is searching for a new venue. So far, we have tested five different venues, and we are very grateful to the locations for accepting this arrangement. However, we are still searching for the perfect mix of price, location, and amenities. If you have any ideas, email the club officers (officers@bonn-international-toastmasters.de), and we’ll make sure to check it out!

Joint meeting with Magenta Voices (Telekom)
Magenta Voices: our corporate sister club in Bonn
Did you know there are three Toastmaster clubs in Bonn? Besides us, Redefluss, the German-speaking club, and Magenta Voices, the only “corporate club” in District 95, gather for weekly meetings. Magenta Voices is reserved for Telekom employees and usually meets during business hours. Because our paths don’t cross often enough, we arranged a joint club meeting on June 18th to get to know each other a little better. Thank you, Magenta Voices, for your warm welcome in your cool building on a hot summer day.

BIT Annual BBQ
A taste of the world at the Bonn International Toastmasters potluck
The sun welcomed us at our annual summer barbecue gathering on Saturday, 20 June. Our lively members and their friends and family enjoyed tasty food, table topic speeches, games and conversation. Thanks to everyone who showed up! And a huge shout-out to the volunteer organizers, especially Arlo and Jonathan, who arranged all the important details behind the scenes!

Message from the outgoing President 2025-2026
A year of turning vision into reality!
One year ago, on 3 July 2025, the Board came together to visualize what we want BIT to become. The answer was: By 30 June 2026, every BIT member grows and excels within a supportive community, while together we put BIT on the map as a visible, vibrant, and financially sustainable Toastmasters club.
Looking back today, I am proud of how much of that vision we brought to life.
Building a Stronger Community
We wanted BIT to feel like a second home: supportive, welcoming, friendly.
Throughout the year, we introduced initiatives such as the BIT Buddy System, BIT Bingo, the Surprise of the Day, and our snack break, all designed to help members connect, engage and feel part of the community.
Supporting Member Growth
Our vision called for members to take ownership of their learning and pursue excellence.
This year, members stepped up in countless ways: delivering speeches, taking on meeting roles, mentoring one another, and completing Pathways levels. Thanks to them, our club achieved Smedley Distinguished status – 10 DCP Points for the first time since its existence. We welcomed 23 new members, and for the first time since its existence, BIT obtained all 3 awards for new members: Smedley Award, Talk Up Toastmasters Award, and Beat the Clock Award.
Putting BIT on the Map
One of our priorities was increasing the club’s visibility beyond our regular meetings. Together, we created the first BIT Newsletter, organized four joint meetings with other clubs in the division, crowdfunded 1,500 EUR and co-hosted the Area A3 Contest and even welcomed the World Toastmasters Champion 2025 Saby Sengupta to Bonn!
Thank you!
None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our members and Board of Officers. As I conclude my term as President, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this incredible club. This year reinforced a lesson I will carry forward: We are all leaders in training.
Thank you for helping turn a vision on paper into a reality ❤️
Monica Gavriluta, President BIT 2025 – 2026
