I discovered Toastmasters relatively late in life, at the “tender age” of 57 years old. I wish I had found it earlier.
In the summer of 2016, my first speech was entitled “Better late than never”. Since then, I have given many more speeches. As a result, my self-confidence and body language on stage have markedly improved. Having a mentor, who works with me for free and shares all his knowledge about how to give marvelous speeches, has also greatly helped me develop as a speaker.
Since March 2017 I can give back to the club as Vice President of Education. In this role I am responsible for scheduling meetings and speeches and I also run the mentorship program. I try to attend as many meetings as possible. Meeting people from all age groups and many different backgrounds is a great joy. Toastmasters is a must for me on a Thursday evening. I cannot imagine ever leaving BIT.
